BAUER MARTINEZ ROLLS WITH ‘WILDER II’
By Borys Kit (Excerpted)
Bauer Martinez Distribution has acquired North American distribution rights to ‘Van Wilder II: The Rise of Taj.’ The film, being produced my Tapestry Films, is shooting in Romania.
‘Wilder II’ is the sequel to 2002’2 ‘National Lampoon’s Van Wilder,’ which made $21 million at the boxoffice but went on to become a cult on DVD.
The new film stars Kal Penn, who reprises his role as Taj. In the sequel Taj heads to England’s Oxford University to further his studios while also showing the uptight student body how to have a good time.
Mort Nathan (‘Boat Trip’) is direction, and David Gallagher wrote the script. Robert Levy, Peter Abrams, Andrew Panay and Natan Zahavi are producing via Tapestry, the company behind ‘Wedding Crashers.’
Philippe Martinez, Alan Latham and Elie Samaha are executive producers.
‘Wilder II’ is the latest acquisition for Bauer Martinez, which is quickly establishing a full slate for next year.
